Arthur Umanoff (1923–1985) was an American-born industrial designer. He studied at New York’s prestigious Pratt Institute and the American School of Design before graduating in the 1950's. After his graduation, Umanoff began collaborating with Post Modern Ltd, a New York design company, and in the 1960's he dedicated his time to working closely with the furniture manufacturer Shaver Howard, who put many of his furniture designs into production.

Umanoff believed that good design should not only be beautiful and functional, but that it should also be attainable. His designs utilised natural materials and simplified, functional forms, all of which were versatile for homes. Arthur Umanoff's designs have often been imagined in wrought iron, rattan, walnut, and birch, utilising functional details while maintaining a sense of elegance.

Over 70 years after they were first designed, Audo Copenhagen brought a variety of Arthur Umanoff’s most iconic mid-century modern lighting and furniture designs back into production, using natural materials and modern technology to bring new life to the classic designs.
