Matteo Fogale was born in Uruguay, relocating to Italy in 2001 to study at the Art School Leonardo da Vinci and IUAV University of Venice. As he grew up in a creative family, Fogale was surrounded by art from a young age. Although he pursued an education in art, he didn’t see himself as an artist, which made his studies difficult. As he approached the end of art school, Matteo Fogale discovered design. He believed that this was the perfect match for him, enjoying the challenge that came with creating designs that not only look and feel good, but also serve a specific purpose.
In 2013, Matteo Fogale founded brose~fogale alongside designer Joscha Brose. Since 2018, Fogale has worked on his own designs as well as a series of collaborations. He has lectured at several schools in the UK and worked as a freelance designer. Fogale has been awarded numerous accolades, including being named a finalist at the Wood Awards 2021, winning the Wallpaper* Design Award in 2015, and the Design Guild Mark from the Furniture Makers’ Company.
“As designers, we have a responsibility to provide spaces and products that promote wellbeing, inside and outside our houses” - Matteo Fogale
