Artemide Falkland Suspension Light
Bruno Munari, an Italian designer and author, designed the Artemide Falkland Suspension in 1964. It is currently housed at the MoMA in New York, and was originally part of the Danese S.L.R. The Falkland suspension lights are available in three sizes: Falkland (165), Falkland 85 and Falkland 53, all of which can be housed individually or in multiples to create a statement. The unique shape of the Falklands is created from pure physics, the tension caused on the fine elastic fabric for a series of varying-sized aluminium rings (7 in the Falkland, 4 in the Falkland 85 and 3 in the Falkland 53). A stretched tube is formed, and the woven fabric acts as a diffuser, emitting a soft light. An aluminium reflector at the top of the lamp further highlights the curves along the fabric.
The elastic fabric that covers the Falkland Suspension Lights is fireproof, adding another unique feature to these lights and enhancing their safety. A Falkland suits any interior, whether modern or more traditional. Their column-like design complements the room, even when not in use. The collection also includes the
Falkland Floor Lamp which can be used alongside this luminaire.
